Let’s get social, shall we?
In April, the Town of Arborg, Municipality of Bifrost-Riverton and the Arborg Chamber of Commerce hired a social media strategist: Tammy Karatchuk.
That would be me.
Here’s a brief bio. I’m a journalism graduate from Red River College, and I freelance for the Interlake Spectator. In the past, I worked for Shaw TV Edmonton, the Edmonton Journal, CJOB and ChrisD. When I’m not writing my novels, I’m snapping photos, speedwalking and burning new recipes.
My location history: born and raised in Arborg; moved to Winnipeg; returned to Arborg; moved to Winnipeg; moved to Edmonton; moved to Winnipeg; and returned to Arborg. Done.
To stay connected, the Town of Arborg and Municipality of Bifrost-Riverton jumped on Facebook and Twitter. Thank you to everyone who joined prior to the official launch date of June 1. There’s Instagram and a YouTube channel for weekly videos – so check back often. The links for these social media sites are at the top right of this blog.
The reason for Facebook and Twitter: the immediacy of information. Power outages, garbage day changes, road accidents/closures, etc. And to promote events in both regions.
Whether it’s splashing in the Credit Union Aquatic Centre or catching a fish at Washow Bay; or touring the Arborg and District Multicultural Heritage Village or the Riverton C.P.R. Rail Station, the Town of Arborg and Municipality of Bifrost-Riverton are as much a tourist destination as a place for a staycation.
